National Geographic Homework Help
This site is aimed at homework help for kids. It's history and culture section includes many articles on things kids may be studying in school or things they might want to learn about.
History Mystery
From Scholastic. Go with Professor Carlotta Facts to solve the history mystery. Sections include U.S. history with african-american history, environmental history, government and politics, inventions and technology, social and cultural history and women's history sections plus world history, that has sections on exploration, inventions and technology and world civilizations.
World History - HyperHistory
A site with over 2000 files that covers 3000 years of world history. To drill down thru this expansive coverage, first you need to decide what section to explore: people, history, events or maps. Then you select a time period. This is an amazing amount of information about history.
Eye Whitness to History
This is a great history site with a very interesting twist. All the history articles on this site are presented through the eyes of those who lived it. It includes the ancient world, middle ages/Renaissance, 17th century, 18th century, 19th century, civil war, old west, world wars I and II, a photo of the week and more.
PBS History Detectives
A great site from PBS's History Detectives show. They take an artifact, buildings and stories and explore the history behind it and try to dispell any myths. It is amazing how some of these stories turn out. The site includes the case files, investigative techniques, and a do it yourself section.
PBS History
PBS has made a directory of all their fantastic history shows online. It includes sites from the American Experience and Ken Burns American Stories shows. Although it doesn't cover everything in history, if they have covered it, they did a thorough job and it definitely worth the time to check it out.
BBC Walk Through Time
A history website for kids ages 7-9 years old. This site includes games, timestrip, which came first, print outs and more. It is a fun interactive history site for kids.
