Auto-Complete with Internet Explorer 5.0+
Here is help with your auto-complete feature in Internet Explorer. If you aren't sure what auto-complete is, read this feature. In this article I explain how to delete and individual word or phrase that keeps appearing in the auto complete. For instance, one time I typed my name wrong and now every time I go to enter my name somewhere it pops up. I can delete that individual entry in auto complete.
Note: One release of Internet Explorer (versions 5.0 thru 7.0) did not allow you to delete individual entries. If you are using this older version, it is time to upgrade. Also this may or may not work for deleting individual sites recently visited in history.
If you have entered words or phrases into search boxes or forms that were incorrect, you can remove one or more by doing this:
To bring up the list of items that you have previously typed in a search box or form, double-click your mouse in the box or type the first letter of the word.
Move your mouse cursor over the word that you want to delete but do not click on it. It will be highlighted.
Click your delete key on your keyboard.
That specific word will not appear again.
Other individual search terms that you may want to delete are also in recent search terms such as here:
Deleting individual auto complete entries are done the same way as forms.
